Summit 2019: Queering Healthcare Access & Accessibility

This year, Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC) is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Summit on October 31 – November 1, 2019. To mark this special milestone, as well as the significant growth in participants over the years, the Summit has moved to a new and more spacious venue, the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, BC. The theme for Summit 2019 is access, and will highlight critical issues in health access and barriers to care among gay, bi, queer, and other men who have sex with men (cis and trans), and Two-Spirit people (GBT2Q) in Canada.

The Summit is a unique opportunity for capacity building, education, and knowledge exchange designed to strengthen the network of those working and volunteering in GBT2Q health. Local, national and international leaders – community members and researchers alike – present on the latest trends in GBT2Q health, including sexual health, mental health, and other determinants affecting the health of our diverse communities.

Presentation proposal submission

Everyone and anyone are welcome to submit a presentation proposal. CBRC is seeking submissions for oral and poster presentations, panel topics, workshops, video presentations, roundtable discussions, and readings at Summit 2019. We especially encourage submissions on the topic of access and accessibility, such as research on barriers to care/services, as well as interventions to increase the accessibility of specific services or to specific groups of GBT2Q, including underserved, ignored, or erased GBT2Q. Submissions can be based upon research, programming, advocacy, activism, grassroots responses, and/or community-based actions engaging GBT2Q in Canada.

Deadline for submission is May 31st.
