Want to learn about Community-based research (CBR) with Universities Without Walls (UWW)?
Tools for CBR is a fun, hands-on, course offered in partnership with Continuing Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) since 2016.
The goal is to learn the basics of Community Based Research (CBR) using one preferred example: the diversity and complexity of HIV in Canada. These CBR basics are applicable to many other health fields.
HIV today is a placeholder for a number of issues of interest to those working with diverse communities: stigma, poverty, use of substances, matters of gender and sexual health, matters of history of movements and remembrance, and many others.
Most of the teaching materials are exclusive to this course and are built with the ongoing support of the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN), the Canadian Association for HIV Research (CAHR), the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH), and the Centre for Urban Health Solutions at St Michael’s Hospital (Toronto).
