Pride on Screen returns to Kelowna with 2 films AND a workshop!

Date: Tuesday Aug 14 5:30-8pm
Location: Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, 442 Leon Ave, Kelowna, BC

A Mile in Our Moccasins is a short film that was co-created by five Indigenous youth.

Working together they created an Indigenous Youth Speaker Series, a project developed as a way to provide the information and guidance around HIV and sexual health that was lacking when they were younger.

The vision behind the film is to combat HIV stigma, address HIV myths and misconceptions, while awakening compassion, education, and understanding in those who view it.

A Mile in Our Moccasins is a story of resilience, healing, and empowerment. A mixture of lived experience, scientific facts, and Indigenous culture and spirituality are woven throughout the film.

There will also be a screening of the short film “Strong Medicine” – an educational video developed by the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network and CATIE, with and for Indigenous people living with HIV.

Followed by a workshop and refreshments, participants will be glad they joined the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, Men’s Health Initiative, and the facilitators from A Mile in Our Moccasins.

This event is co-presented by: Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network, CATIE, Community-Based Research Centre, Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, Living Positive Resource Centre, Men’s Health Initiative, REL8 Okanagan, Senior Gay Men in Kelowna, and Vancouver Island PWA Society.
