2018 World Hepatitis Day in British Columbia

July 28th is World World Hepatitis Day, a day to raise awareness, educate and advocate. This year we are featuring events and resources to support the movement for better health literacy.

National

Encore Webinar:  Barriers and Facilitators to Hepatitis C Virus Screening and Testing

Date: July 12th, 2018

Location: Online; pre-registration required

Event Details: In advance of World Hepatitis Day on July 28th, the Public Health Agency of Canada is offering an encore presentation on the barriers and facilitators of screening and testing for HCV. Learn more and register.

 

Abbotsford

Hepatitis C Day

Date: July 26, 2018

Time: 11 AM – 2 PM

Location: Positive Living Fraser Valley Society, 108A 32883 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford.

Event Details: Positive Living Fraser Valley Society (PLFV) will have food, beverages, HCV testing, information and fibroscans. PLFV will also be at Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy on McCullum and London Drugs on South Fraser Way in Abbotsford from 10-12 giving out information.

Hepatitis Info Booth, Pride Festival 2018

Date: August 5th, 2018

Time: 11 AM – 7 PM

Location: Sunset Beach, Vancouver

Event Details: This event is also presented by HepCBC. Hepatitis B and C Information at Pride Festival Vancouver 2018. Saltspring Island

Hep C Info Table and Hep C rapid testing event

Date: July 28th, 2018

Location: Salt Spring Island Saturday Market

Event Details: AIDS Vancouver Island in partnership with PerCuro Clinic with be hosting a Hep C Info Table and Hep C rapid testing event in the Gazebo at the Salt Spring Island Saturday Market on July 28th in honor of World Hepatitis Day.

 

Victoria

Hep C Info Table 

Date: July 25th, 2018

Time: 11 AM – 3 PM

Location: GVPL, Downtown Branch

Event details: AIDS Vancouver Island in partnership with PerCuro Clinic will be hosting a Hep C Info Table at the GVPL, Downtown Branch on Wednesday, July 25th from 11 AM to 3 PM in the main lobby.

 

Hep C Rapid Testing, Information and Support 

Date: July 26th, 2018

Time: 11 AM – 530 PM

Location: Bastion Square Market

Event details: AIDS Vancouver Island will be offering Hep C Rapid Testing + Information and Support at the Bastion Square Market, from 11 – 5:30pm on Thursday, July 26th

 

Courtenay/Comox

Testing 

Date: July 30th, 2018

Time: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Location: 355 6th St., Courtenay: AVI Courtenay, 355 6th St. Courtenay

Event details: There will be testing event at AVI Courtenay on Monday July 30th to coincide with World Hepatitis Day. The event will run from 9:30-12:00, and folks can come down to get tested for HIV and Hep C by a public health nurse. Snacks will be provided and there will be games on site. More info

Information Table

Event details: On World Hepatitis Day, Saturday, July 28th, there will be an information table set up at the Vancouver Island Regional Library – Campbell River, from 11 AM – 1 PM.

 

Testing Event

Date: July 30th, 2018

Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Location: AVI Campbell River, 1371 c. Cedar Street, Campbell River

Event Details: There will be testing event at AVI Campbell River on Monday July 30th to honour World Hepatitis Day. The event will run from 11:00 AM  – 1:00 PM and there will be snacks, beverages, hepatitis information and games. Event takes place at 1371 c. Cedar Street, Campbell River BC

 

Smithers

Information Booth
Date: July 25, 2018
Time: 12 Noon
Location: Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre, 3955 3 Ave, Smithers, BC
Event Details: Chris from Positive Living North and Patricia from Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre will have an information booth set up outside Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre. Refreshments and conversation will commence at 12:00 .
