“The Lonely Brain”: Isolation & Brain Health in Adults Living with HIV

Studies have shown that older people living with HIV have increasingly limited and fragile relationships with their friends. Aging with HIV makes some people more likely to suffer from depression; have difficulty adhering to their medication; see more challenges with common tasks like driving or managing their finances; and are impacted by employment and relationship stressors. As new treatments help us live longer; we must learn to navigate the world from the perspective of someone living with a chronic illness. Dr. Marianne Harris will share research around neuro-cognitive decline; social isolation and other long-term effects for people living with HIV.
