CAHR2016 – Symposium-Measuring the National HIV Cascade & the UNAIDS 90-90-90 Targets

Sponsored by CTN, OHTN & REACH, CANOC, CANFAR

UNAIDS has set the ambitious goal that by 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their diagnosis; 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

From a national perspective, we need to know where Canadian populations stand on achieving these 90-90-90 targets. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is developing a national HIV cascade to assess the extent to which people living with HIV are engaged along the continuum of care.

Several Canadian regions have laid out 90-90-90 target plans and analyzed their cascade of care. This symposium invited critical engagement around the approaches, opportunities, and implications of the cascade framework and the
90-90-90 targets at national, regional and community levels.
