Gay Men’s Health Summit 2014 – Call for Submissions: Presentations, Workshops, Videos and Panels

Gay Men's Health SummitThe New Literacy of Gay Men’s Health: How do you know what you know?

This year’s Summit will explore how well gay men, their providers and care systems around them are navigating the explosion of health knowledge in the digital era. Rapidly evolving science and technologies are challenging the capacities of professionals let alone average gay guys to keep up. How well we grasp what is emerging in these times could ultimately affect gay men’s future well-being and even help wind down the HIV epidemic.

It is a larger issue, however, than just what every gay guy knows. It also concerns our critical appraisal of the contents of communications, how they are constructed and what interests are at stake. At a time when medication is fast becoming the dominant HIV prevention paradigm—whether TasP, PEP or PrEP—the information we have and our critical capacities to act will play a significant role in the outcome. The new literacy of gay health may well be the key to technological success.

Join us for another stimulating event with a lineup of guest speakers with an interest in gay men and health literacy from multiple perspectives. As usual we accept all submissions related to gay men’s health but encourage your consideration of the Summit theme in your write up. ____________________________________________________________________________ Send your submission, 300 word max, with title, author(s) and affiliation(s) to: [email protected]
