Highlights from the BC HIV/HCV Evaluation Advisory Group Meeting

The mission of the BC HIV/HCV Evaluation Advisory Group is to: (i) ensure the best HIV/HCV programming for people living-with or at-risk of HIV/HCV; (ii) build a culture of evaluation and research; and increase (iii) evaluation capacity in all HIV/HCV service providers and funders in BC. The Advisory Group is composed of program managers and Executive Directors of community-based organizations, as well as representatives from the health authorities and the Ministry of Health.

Here are some of the exciting highlights from the Advisory Group’s meeting on May 14, 2014:

  • The Community HIV/HCV Evaluation and Reporting Tool (CHERT) is gearing up to collect data from community-based HIV/HCV organizations in BC about the range of programs and services they provided in the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
  • One of the CHERT’s objectives is to streamline the data collected and reported by community-based HIV/HCV organizations across the province in effort to reduce the number of repetitive and time-consuming reporting requirements set out by individual funding agencies. The Advisory Group made some significant progress towards achieving this objective at the May 2014 meeting. Specifically, representatives from different health authorities have expressed interest in forming data partnership agreements with the CHERT to reduce the reporting burden. The Advisory Group is looking forward to continuing conversations about this potential opportunity.
