The Structured Learning Collaborative is a network of stakeholders representing all six health authorities in BC, the BC Centre of Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Providence Health Care, and Impact BC. The purpose of the Collaborative is to ultimately improve access to HIV care and to advance the health outcomes of people living with HIV through sharing of knowledge and best practices. There are three foci:
· Retaining HIV positive patients in care
· Strengthening partnerships between care partners
· Improving overall HIV care.
Indications that HIV care has improved include a guidelines-based care approach, suppressed viral load in patients, patient engagement through regular medical visits, and patient drug adherence to antiretroviral therapy. The Collaborative will have three learning sessions in 2011. For more information on the Collaborative, please see the documents below and visit the BC Centre for Excellence’s Structured Learning Collaborative website: http://www.stophivaids.ca/about-structured-learning-collaborative
Darren Lauscher, Vice-Chair of the PAN Board of Directors, is an active member and participant with the Structured Learning Collaborative. To learn more about PAN’s involvement with the Collaborative, you can contact Darren directly at lauscher@telus.net.
