Job Posting – Treatment Outreach Coordinator, Positive Living BC

PLBC_logoWorking in collaboration within the Health Promotion Team and with other Positive Living Staff and Volunteers, under the guidance of the Director of Programs and Services, the Treatment Outreach Coordinator facilitates and coordinates the planning, development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of treatment information dissemination both in-house as well as externally. Researches and disseminates current information on HIV treatments and access thereto. Serves as a principal liaison between the Society and academia, as well as with scientific and health care personnel. Recruits and supports student placements from various post-secondary institutions, from a range of healthcare disciplines, and participates in the training of healthcare providers in issues related to HIV.

Duties:

  1. In consultation with the Director of Programs and Services, undertakes the research and delivery of targeted HIV treatment information, along with monitoring and evaluation of related Society programming.
  2. Provides treatment information expertise to the department and to all of the Society’s staff, volunteers and members on an on-going basis.
  3. Responsible for helping to bring the perspective of the lived experience, related to HIV and its treatments, to appropriate health care and allied health care providers, and providers-in-training, particularly on issues related to HIV stigma, criminalization, sensitivity and cultural capacity.
  4. Works closely with various educational institutions and health care providers to develop guidelines for care, treatment and support of HIV-positive individuals, as well as helping in the development of educational materials for delivery to providers, providers-in- training, as well as HIV-positive persons.
  5. Undertakes the promotion, delivery, evaluation, and research study of the Gay Poz Sex program by participating in GPS and peer facilitation training, following research protocols as set forth by the GPS research team, implementing GPS intervention protocols, facilitating workshops, and performing other related duties in the GPS Program.
  6. Assists with coordination of complementary services to members and others living with HIV as provided through student placements from post secondary institutions in health related fields of study.
  7. In collaboration with the Treatment, Health and Wellness Coordinator, organizes community forums and workshops, helping to coordinate logistics, secure expert participation and develop promotional material.
  8. Networks with treatment information providers and pharmaceutical representatives, in addition to various professionals from across Canada for true knowledge exchange and seeking of opportunities for collaboration, including appropriate support of studies granted through various funding agencies – helping with recruitment and other needs.
  9. Works with front-line teams and organizations to ensure quality improvement of services delivered to HIV-positive individuals in the province.
  10. Identify potential capacity-building activities to enhance volunteer and member skills in a variety of areas, including but not limited to: public-speaking, community advisory board/research participation, and workshop development.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
